French Masonic diploma from 1794

This week's object is a French Masonic diploma from Bordeaux, dating from 1794. It is a sheet of parchment, approximately 50 centimetres long, painted in watercolour with writings in ink, containing dozens of signatures of Freemasons of the higher degrees. 

The document is issued by the Essence de la Paix lodge, founded in 1788.The diploma confirms that Brother Henry Marie Marchand was initiated into Master’s degree at the age of 34.
